About

The Master’s Academy is a private K-12 Christian school registered with the California Department of Education. We are located in Mission Viejo, CA. The Master’s Academy was formed in the 1990’s. Our mission is to provide quality education that is dedicated the the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 22:37).

The fastest growing segment in education in the United States is homeschooling. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCEA), in 2007 over 1.5 million students in the U.S. were homeschooled. The students were distributed across all ethnic and economic boundaries. The NCEA noted the following

“Parents give many different reasons for homeschooling their children. In 2007, the most common reason parents gave as the most important was a desire to provide religious or moral instruction (36 percent of students). This reason was followed by a concern about the school environment (such as safety, drugs, or negative peer pressure) (21 percent), dissatisfaction with academic instruction (17 percent), and “other reasons” including family time, finances, travel, and distance (14 percent).”

Consider the following Biblical principles.

  • Parents are entrusted by God for the care of children.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” – Psalm 127:3 NKJV”

“And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, ‘Who are these with you?” So he said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.'” – Genesis 33:5 NKJV

See also Deuteronomy 7:13; 28:4; Psalm 24:1; Ezekiel 16:20, 21; Isaiah 8:18.

  • God gives parents, not the government, overall responsibility for educating the child (wisdom and training).

“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4 NKJV

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-9 NKJV

“And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, ‘Who are these with you?’ So he said, ‘The children whom God has graciously given your servant.'” – Genesis 33:5 NKJV

See also Deuteronomy 11:18-21; Proverbs 4:1-27; 23:12, 13; Titus 1:6; Hebrews 12:9-11.

  • The purpose of education is to train the child to be a faithful servant of God, to seek to be holy even as He is holy; and to be equipped (competent) to fulfill God’s cultural mandate and Great Commission (Genesis 1:26-28; Matthew 28:18-20).The goal is not merely to gain degrees or fame but to promulgate the faith, using the gifting that God has given us.

“This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.” – Acts 24:16 NKJV

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” – Philippians 2:5 NKJV

“They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” – John 17:16-17 NKJV

“Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.” – Isaiah 58:12 NKJV

See also Psalm 1:1-3; 78:1-7; Titus 2:11-15

  • Today the world believes that academic freedom is license to study evil or the ways of evil. The Bible tells us differently. Therefore, parents must protect their children from the pressures of worldly peers.

“Cease listening to instruction, my son, And you will stray from the words of knowledge.” – Proverbs 19:27 NKJV

“For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.” – Romans 16:19 NKJV

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1 NKJV

“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.’ Therefore ‘Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.'” – 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 NKJV

“My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. If they say, ‘Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit; We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil; Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purse”– My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood. Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird; But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners.'” – Proverbs 1:10-19 NKJV

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2 NKJV

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 NKJV

Quote:

“Do not train children to learning by force and harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.” ― Plato

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  “Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lamp-stand; and it gives light to all who are in the house.  “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.                                   Matthew 5: 14 – 16
